Wilderness First Aid Certification Course

Length: 16 hours (2 full days)
Dates: Saturday, April 25– Sunday, April 26, 2009; 8 AM – 5 PM each day
Cost: $265 per participant (food not included, tent camping available. Inquire for details)

COURSE OVERVIEW

Wilderness First Aid is a 16 hour course designed to provide elementary skills in remote care. Based on recommendations from the Wilderness Medical Society and evidence-based research, our curriculum focuses on making sound decisions regarding patient evacuation, as well as skills for extended care.

This course is a hands-on, experiential format providing students with the skills and confidence for making remote medical care decisions. Remote First Aid is ideal for outdoor recreation enthusiasts, camp staff, remote site workers, and travelers who either work or play away from definitive medical facilities and support.

PREREQUISITES

Comfortable spending extended time in outdoor setting with varying weather conditions. Be prepared to be outside in any weather.

FORMAT

Combination of lecture, skill labs, and practical scenarios to provide participants with the greatest opportunity to use and retain the skills necessary to respond to remote medical emergencies. Skill labs and scenarios take place inside and outside. Check-in of the first day is at 0800. A typical day will run from 800 – 1700. The course will end by 1700 on the last day.

Wilderness First Aid from Remote Medical International

RECERTIFICATION

With completion of this course, certification is good for 2 years. Recertification does not apply to this course. Participants must retake complete Wilderness First Aid course to keep certification.
